We’ve been back from our wonderful holiday just over a week and now I’ve just about caught up with the washing and got the kiddies settled into their new routine back at school it’s time to share a little more about where we stayed.
Corfu, affectionately known as the ‘Emerald Isle’ because of it’s crystal clear water and lush vegetation offers stunning natural scenery and traditional Greek villages and towns as well as a very popular party resort also, the island really does have something for everyone. It is the largest of the Ionian islands located in the North West of Greece which makes it one of the quickest island to get to with a flight time of approximately 3 hours.
We chose to stay in the resort of Kassiopi, which is perched perfectly on the north east corner of Corfu across the sea from Albania. It’s an old fishing village that has retained its charm for sure. You can expect a bustling village that offers a truly picturesque harbour which many of the wonderful restaurants overlook to give you that picture perfect view whilst enjoying dinner or drinks.

The cobbled streets are dotted with bars, restaurants and plenty of souvenir shops. It really is a wonderful place to just meander through, stopping here and there for a cool drink and in our case to pick up another fridge magnet as well as some beautiful handmade jewellery.
The restaurants offer everything from a great value bbq vibe to your more expensive a la carte offering those stunning sunsets over the harbour. We honestly thoroughly enjoyed every meal we had, we love Greek food anyway and couldn’t wait to try some of our favourite dishes, saganaki was sampled almost every day!! My favourite was probably at Strofilia where I also had the most delicious beef stifado too 😋

Now, I’m a huge lover of the sea, there something about being by the sea that instantly relaxes me, I feel my calmest and happiest when by water, must be the Pisces in me. Kassiopi has 3 main beaches, the first one is a rocky bay on the left side of the town, it’s quite wide with sh loungers and parasols available to hire. The other two beaches are just around the headland, they are smaller picturesque coves. All are shingle, pebbly beaches and swim shoes are highly recommended! There is a very large soft sandy beach just a 10 minute drive away which we visited. The waters were so shallow for a long way out so it was perfect for our children. There was an inflatable park in the sea too which my husband and eldest boy spent an hour on for 10 euros each. There was a couple of beach bars and a gorgeous taverna just behind where we enjoyed a lovely lunch with uninterrupted sea views.

We spoke to quite a few people who had been holidaying in Kassiopi for many years, this is a resort that definitely benefits from a lot of repeat holiday makers. A lovely older gent that we got chatting to described its charm as magnetic and after a wonderful week here we can certainly see why.
